Exercise Analytics: Weekly Volume by Muscle Group

IRONSLOG’s exercise analytics show a rolling 7-day breakdown of training volume by muscle group as a set of horizontal bars, next to the same per-exercise progression charts used for progress tracking. It’s built to answer one question at a glance: which muscle groups got the most and least work this week.

How is weekly training volume calculated?

For every completed set logged in the last 7 days, IRONSLOG adds weight × reps — what the glossary calls tonnage — to each muscle group that set trained, then ranks the muscle groups from highest to lowest volume as horizontal bars. If nothing’s been logged in the window, the analytics view says so plainly instead of showing an empty chart.

How is this different from the progress tracker feature?

Progress tracking (see the progress tracker page) is about one exercise over a long time — is your squat going up. Analytics is about this week across your whole body — which muscle groups are getting trained and which aren’t. They share the same underlying screen and logged-set data, just two different lenses on it.

Can I see analytics for a specific lift instead of a muscle group?

Yes — the same screen includes the per-exercise chart, switchable between top-set and estimated 1RM, so muscle-group volume and single-lift progression sit side by side rather than in separate tools.

Key takeaways

  • IRONSLOG’s analytics rank muscle-group training volume over the last 7 days.
  • Volume is calculated as tonnage — weight × reps — summed per muscle group.
  • Analytics (this week, whole body) and progress tracking (one lift, over time) share the same screen.
  • An empty week is shown honestly, not padded with zero-value bars.
